FAQs
How many years has CTM been in business?
Corporate Travel Management, Inc. has been operating continuously as business travel specialists since 1990. The company was formed in June, 1990 and opened for business in September, 1990.
Is CTM owned by, or a part of, some larger company?
Corporate Travel Management is independently owned and operated. The original two founders are still the only owners of CTM. Both owners are responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of CTM. We are proud of this fact as the client companies that work with CTM are not forced into dealing with the impersonal "layers of management" that is so typical with other Travel Management Companies (TMCs).
Does CTM meet the requirements to be considered a "woman-owned business"?
Yes. Corporate Travel Management, Inc. is 51% woman-owned.
Your corporate HQ is located in Charlotte, NC. Do you handle accounts outside of the Carolinas?
Of course. We can, and do, handle accounts across the USA. Our advanced systems and technology allow us a wide range of options that enable us to customize a configuration specific to the requirements of the client company, regardless of where they are located.
Our company does not have a large travel budget and our needs are simple. How well does CTM work with companies like ours?
Many companies like yours might simply want a business travel agency that will provide "top-notch" service
and attention. CTM's accessible management and primary focus on companies with small ($50K) to medium ($5M) annual travel budgets should eliminate the feeling of unimportance that you may have encountered with other "mega-sized" service providers in the past. Companies like yours are the "bread and butter" of CTM so you can be confident that we will be as accommodating and responsive to your requirements as possible.
We are a smaller but rapidly growing company and we need someone that can grow with us - we don't want to outgrow them as our requirements change, then be forced to go through a selection process again. Is CTM flexible and capable enough to be able to do this?
This question gets into the core of CTM philosophies and "who we are".
Typically, this question means that a potential client wants to start out with the personal "high touch" type of service that traditionally has been provided by retail travel agencies. Help with travel cost control is less of an issue at this stage of a company's growth because the company's founders frequently
are the travelers and/or travel approvers and they are still able to maintain very good control over costs. Then, as their company becomes larger, the need for additional products and services to control costs becomes evident, usually about the time a new CFO is brought in. As retail agencies typically have not made all of the necessary investments in systems and staffing to be able to offer these services, reluctantly, the search for a new travel services provider begins. This usually means that the company moves from the arena of "high touch" personal service to "high tech" impersonal, mega-sized, but cost controlled service.
What a choice to have to make.
At CTM, we believe a successful travel program for any company requires an appropriate blend of the "best of both worlds" - personal service
AND cost control. Focusing on only one or the other is not usually the best approach for the overall success and acceptance of your travel program.
At whatever service level that your company begins working with CTM, you will always have the flexibility to change or upgrade your service configuration.
The diverse mix of CTM clientele ranges from companies that want standard agency services with minimal, or no travel management, all the way up to those that want it ALL, such as: customized online booking tools with policy and contract enforcement, online group/conference management, VIP agent services, vendor contract negotiations, automated management reports, on-site agent deployment, online expense reporting, and more.
CTM's wide range of customizable services and products specifically targeting small to medium travel budgets, coupled with the "non-mega-agency" attitude and highly accessible owner/managers, means that CTM occupies a unique niche within the business travel services community.
If CTM specializes in Travel Management Services, does that mean that you do not provide other services like vacation travel (tours & cruises), groups, incentive travel etc?
CTM is a full service travel agency. Tours and cruises, groups and incentive travel are all handled by our CTM Vacations staff.
